The Volta Regional Police Command arrested three men in Akatsi for defrauding the public in connection with recruitment into the Ghana Police Service.

The men were arrested on September 14 for a fraudulent Facebook ad offering to help applicants who wish to be drafted into Ghana’s police service.

The post was reportedly created by the Commander of the Volta Regional Police, DCOP, Mr. Edward Oduro Kwarteng.

In a press release signed by DSP Efia Tenge, police said that “preliminary investigations revealed that many victims have paid various sums of money to fraudsters in the hope of being favored in the recruitment exercise. in progress “.

The three people, namely; Amenyah Bernard, 18, Adzikah Godsway, 23, and Wemegah Godson, 21, were arrested.

Police said a total of five suspects have been apprehended in recent weeks on charges of recruitment fraud.

The security agency urged those affected by the scam to report to the command to participate in investigations and prosecutions.

“The command wishes to state that it is not responsible for recruiting people into the service, as such, desperate candidates should be wary of protocol allowances offered everywhere,” parts of the statement read.
