Police arrest 396 suspected criminals in one shot

Ashanti Regional Police Command revealed that 396 suspected criminals were arrested following a raid on various criminal lairs.

According to police, the suspects aged 17 to 55 were recovered from all 15 police divisions in the region, between Wednesday, September 14 and Monday, September 20, 2021.

“Those arrested were examined and profiled and those found guilty were brought before the various courts in the region, some of them were remanded in custody to reappear at a later date, while others were released. on bail to show up, ”police said in a statement. press release, dated September 28, signed by Command PRO, ASP Godwin Ahianyo.

The regional command added that other raids carried out between Saturday, September 25 and Tuesday, September 28, 2021 saw police intercept and impound 796 motorcycles.

Police said some people were arrested and asked to produce the documents covering the motorcycles for inspection and verification.

Documents found to be false will be prosecuted against their owners, they added. This, police said, is part of the resolve of security agencies to tackle violent crime in the region.

“The Command would like to use this medium to assure the general public of its continued struggle to reduce crime to the bare minimum and to allay the fear of citizens. All citizens are therefore urged and encouraged to assist the police by providing credible, reliable, accurate and timely information which will lead to the arrest of suspected criminals to aid us in our endeavor.
