Police in Assin Praso, Central Region, arrested nine young men suspended for Internet fraud, known as “Sakawa boys”.

Police said they received a report on Thursday August 19, 2021, according to which young men in number in their 20s, suspected of being Sakawa boys, had attacked a certain Kofi Asante and Papa Asare.

The suspects allegedly inflicted cutlass wounds to the abdomen, hands, face and other parts of their bodies.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the plaintiffs were attacked by the attackers after the plaintiffs seized four cell phones, a dagger and a knife belonging to the attackers who were suspected of engaging in criminal activity.”

The suspects are; Emmanuel Quia, Paul Arthur, Felix Owusu and Dominic Jesse, who are 18, and Emmanuel Obeng, 17.

The others are; Richard Boateng 22 years old, Emmanuel Akomaning alias Lugasty 23 years old, Kweku Issa 19 years old and Emmanuel Essel 22 years old.

The police report further stated that the suspects had returned to the complainants’ homes to claim their items.

This resulted in a misunderstanding which resulted in the suspects allegedly stabbing the complainants.

Meanwhile, the police are looking for Emmanuel Kwame Kwanning, Guda and Asona who are on the run.

Police said they were investigating the attack which resulted in the death of one person.
