A suspect suspected of being the assistant to the popular pastor, Reverend Owusu Bempah, has been arrested by police.

Bright Berchie, 30, originally declared wanted, has been charged with death threats, offensive driving and possession of a firearm without legal authorization.

The security agency also noted that the suspect will soon be brought to court.

It comes weeks after Reverend Owusu Bempah and three others were arrested by police for uttering threats, brandishing weapons and assaulting police officers.

Reverend Owusu Bampah was arrested after allegedly threatening to kill Patricia Oduro Koranteng, aka Nana Agradaa.

The People’s Pastor and the other defendants were jointly charged with offensive conduct in breach of the peace. Additionally, Owusu Bempah faces a death threat charge.

Boateng, Ohene, Ofori and Agyekum have been variously charged with assaulting public officials and threatening to kill them.

Reverend Owusu Bempah has been released on bail in the amount of GHS 200,000 with two sureties by a High Court in Accra.

Four other people suspected of being members of his church were also allowed to post a bond of 200,000 GHS with two bonds to be justified.

The defendants are scheduled to appear in court again on October 5.

Meanwhile, police prosecutors in charge of the case have revealed that they intend to change the facts and charges against the defendants at the next hearing.
