Police attacker dies as Alban Bagbin convoy is involved in crash

A convoy made up of an advanced security team of the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, was involved in an accident which resulted in the death of the police outrider.

The team was heading towards Wa to await the arrival of the President. Arriving in Konongo, a vehicle reportedly struck the convoy, killing the motorcyclist instantly.

According to Kate Addo, head of public affairs in Parliament, Mr. Bagbin has not been assigned, as he is in Accra.

The rider, identified as Chief Inspector Abednego Kaakyire, died instantly after his motorcycle collided head-on with a Nissan Sentra vehicle.

According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the Nissan Sentra with registration GT 2173-21 struck the rider while attempting to overtake an articulated truck in front of him on the Kumasi-Nkawkaw section of the Kumasi-Accra road.
