According to the joint statement by security agencies investigating Nana Appiah Mensah, known as NAM 1, on the Dubai government delegation on Friday, the troubled CEO will face his first hearing on Feb. 2.
"The Ghanaian delegation understands that Mr. Mensah faces charges of a minor offense in the United Arab Emirates and will be made available to Ghana in the final determination of his current case in the United Arab Emirates. His case must be heard by the court on February 2, 2019 ".
Clarifying the matter, the director of public affairs of the Ghana Police Department, David Eklu, told Starr News that there might be a special arrangement providing that the court would sit on Saturday about this or that the date could have been wrong.
"We understand that February 2 is a weekend … I'm not too sure about the situation in Dubai. In some cases, the court may hold a meeting on weekends. But that does not negate the fact that he will go to court in February.
"By typing, on the calendar, you can even go wrong day. You might think Friday is February 2nd or 3rd. So for me, this is not an important thing. It may be a typo, an error, and it may be that the court has an arrangement to sit on Saturday. "
The government delegation was sent to the United Arab Emirates to facilitate the extradition of the Menzgold leader.
The delegation headed by Joseph Dindiok Kpemka was hastily dispatched to the United Arab Emirates to negotiate the repatriation of Appiah Mensah affectionately known as NAM1 following reports that he was arrested in the Gulf country. as a result of a bad agreement on gold.
