JOHANNESBURG – Mozambican police have collected more than 200 suspects as a result of the murder of a dozen villagers last weekend.

The alleged Islamist attacks in Cabo Delgado province in the north of the country have pushed thousands of people to flee to Tanzania for safety.

The attack took place a few kilometers from the Tanzanian border, where Mozambique does not have a security patrol.

The victims were killed with machetes or died in the flames of their burning homes.

This is the third attack of this type in a month, killing 20 people in total.

At the same time, Mozambican authorities are continuing their oil and gas operations in Cabo Delgado.

The dissidents say that the local population does not benefit from the wealth that these companies bring.
