Police, in a special exercise on Friday, impounded 40 vehicles for various traffic violations along the Kpone-Dawenya section of the N1 motorway in Accra.

The offenses included dangerous driving, driving on the shoulders and on the verges, abuse of sirens and flashing lights, among others.

A police press release said the exercise, which had been relaunched by the Police Administration, was led by Dr George Akuffo Dampare, Acting Inspector General of Police with the Directorate of Transport and motor vehicle traffic (MTTD) during evening rush hours. of the said date.

The brief stated that the war on indiscipline was aimed at deterring motorists who flout the highway code, which contributed to traffic jams on the main roads of the metropolises of Accra and Tema.

He said 40 drivers arrested for breaking road traffic rules were currently being processed in Tema and Ashaiman courts.

Other vehicles were also impounded at the Tema community police station.

The brief advised motorists to obey traffic laws at all times in order to improve road safety.
