Police officer died from Covid-19, not from poisoning – Regional Command

Bono Regional Police Command refuted allegations that a 49-year-old police inspector in the command was poisoned by a colleague during his promotion.

The officer, the late Inspector Fred Armah of the regional criminal investigations department in Sunyani, instead died from Covid-19, the commander said.

A statement signed by Deputy Police Commissioner (ACP) Baba Saanidad Adamu, the deputy regional police commander in Sunyani, said authorities at Sunyani Regional Hospital attributed the cause of death to Covid-19.

He expressed concern over a circulating video showing a man dropping an object into another young man’s mug who was dancing with co-workers, with an attached statement suggesting it was the policeman holding the mug.

The Command, after careful observation of the video, concluded that no policeman was involved in the jubilation and, therefore, “dissociates itself from the video that is circulating”.

He advised the public to stop disseminating this false information as there was no evidence.
