Bikaner:

A police officer was fired for allegedly helping and sheltering an accused of murder, officials said Saturday.

The accused police officer, Praveen, was involved in several criminal acts and last year housed the so-called criminal and accused of murder, Ankit Bhadu, they said.

Praveen reportedly provided Bhadu with a vehicle, cell phones and other facilities after the killing of a man in Sriganganagar by Bhadu, they said.

"The officer was terminated after approval of the police headquarters," said Pradeep Mohan Sharma, senior police chief in Bikaner.

Bhadu was killed during a police clash in Punjab in February this year.
