Police release a police officer who assaulted a woman at the bank; urges the public to go to court

The police administration stated that she was no longer interested in the criminal case involving Lance Corporal Fredrick Amanor, the police officer who had badaulted a lady at a police station. Midland Savings and Loans in Accra.

According to ACP Eklu, internal disciplinary proceedings are still ongoing after the July 2018 attack, adding that anyone aggrieved by the police handling of the case can go to court.

"If someone is still not satisfied, he can go to court and review it again, but we have done what we are supposed to do, according to the law."

However, he felt that Lance Corporal Fredrick Amanor had subsequently returned to his post.

"The police officer [Fredrick Amanor] work now. It is subject to internal disciplinary processes. It's advice, supervision, and all I'm saying is that we do not approve of this kind of action, but in the end we would all have hoped that the law would have been enforced, but it ended at one point,"ACP Eklu noted.

Fredrick Amanor was arrested and tried for badaulting a client of the Midlands Savings and Loans Company in 2018.

However, the widely-condemned act of police brutality resulted in no conviction, as the case was dismissed due to an alleged lack of interest in the victim's trial , Patience Osafo.

ACP Eklu badured the public that there was no reason to alarm them.
