Ghanaian police have rescued a Lebanese consular general and Estonian chief of mission in Ghana who were kidnapped by Nigerians today (Friday, 19 April).
Nabil Makram Basbous, 61, was walking around his neighborhood in Labone, Accra, when he was kidnapped by suspects known to be Nigerians.
A police status report stated that the rescue operation had taken place at the residence of the suspects in Lashibi, after being informed.

He told the police that he was living in Labone, near Wangara. Today, on April 18, 1919, around 7 o'clock, he walks around his neighborhood, "the report says.
He added: "About 10 minutes after the start of the ride, a white private Hyundai Elantra car stopped in front of him. One of the occupants came out, fired a gun at him and ordered him to enter the car or risk being killed when he resists. He forced, entered and was taken away with the kidnappers pointing a gun and an ax toward him. He could not make his way until they arrived at the scene. He was held in the room and held hostage for paying a ransom. Police found the car used for kidnapping parked in the compound. A search in the car found a Retay pistol loaded with 5 ammunition cartridges of 7.65 mm and 2 axes.
