KUMASI THUGS Some of the wanted people are: Commando, Wayo, Element, Jah Street, Small, Akon, Fayiz, Mallam and Rock.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command said nine other people were wanted for their alleged involvement in the shooting incident at the Kumasi National Democratic Congress (KDC) regional headquarters.

This brings to 13 the number of people wanted in the bloody incident that resulted in the death of one person and serious injury on another. Statement from the Regional Public Relations Officer of Police in Ashanti, Mr. Godwin, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ahianyo called the nine people Sanni Mohammed, also known as Commando, Wayo, Element, Jah Street, Small , Akon, Fayiz, Mallam and Rock.

Hussein Bari aka Warrior, Midjima, Damos and Abu Taliban were the first four people declared wanted.

Regional Command has called on the general public to badist the police in providing information that could lead to the arrest and possible prosecution of suspects.

Burial

Earlier Wednesday, the body of the murdered member of the Ashanti CND regional working group, Wasiru Iddrisu, was buried at the Tafo Muslim cemetery. It was after holding Islamic rites at Sawaba Mosque, amid a strong security presence. The soldiers were to accompany Sawaba's youth to the cemetery to prevent them from engaging in acts of lawlessness.

Wasiru, also known as Aboabo Gyata, was shot dead Monday by people suspected of belonging to the Hawks, another pro-NDC group. The family had wanted the body delivered to them for burial on Monday or last Tuesday, in accordance with Islamic rites and tradition.

The police, however, delayed asking the Komfo Anokye University Hospital (KATH) to perform a body autopsy.

Shock

According to sources, the security services reportedly gathered information that the young people from Sawaba and Aboabo where the deceased was staying planned to march to Tafo Zongo, where they thought the perpetrators were hiding, to avenge the death of their neighbor. .

The army had to prevent the young people from changing their route to go to Tafo Zongo after the burial and escorted them back to Aboabo. The solemn funeral rites were performed in a tense atmosphere.

The pain of losing a loved one is clearly seen on the faces of residents who, without the presence of the police and the army, could have done themselves justice.

Concern

They called for justice for their fallen hero and called on the police not to protect anyone, but to get to the bottom of things.

Some of the residents who knew the deceased thought that his death had nothing to do with politics, but that it was a personal problem that had become bloody. Hussein Bari, also known as Warrior, reportedly shot Iddrisu more than six times after a dispute in the NDC's Ashanti regional office in Kumasi. The suspect allegedly shot another member of the same group, Abdul Rahman, currently being treated at KATH.

Context

The challenge of political vigilance made its appearance in Kumasi last Monday when a group of people suspected of belonging to the Hawks, a self-defense group linked to the NDC opposition party, disrupted a meeting between some members of the National and regional leaders of the party.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss issues related to the upcoming NDC presidential primary scheduled for Saturday, 23 February.

Members of the self-defense group, riding on motorbikes, reportedly shot indiscriminately, killing one person and causing serious injury to another.
