Deadly drama on a cow pasture in Bavaria (Bayern). A bull breaks out in the Upper Palatinate and attacks and kills a farmer. Later, when the father enters the pasture, he is also attacked and killed by the same aggressive wild bull.
A wild bull killed a farmer and his father in Bavaria, in the Upper Palatinate. The 60-year-old farmer was attacked Saturday by the animal in a pasture in Gleißenberg while he wanted to mark a calf, police said. When the man did not return home to the adjacent farm after a while, his father, 87, and his wife went to search. When the eldest entered the pasture, the bull also attacked and also killed the elder.
The wife of the farmer called the emergency services, but the bull also harbaded the rescuers. They could reach the men on the pasture only when the police shot the animal. Why the bull became aggressive was not clear at first. According to the police, the bull probably wanted to defend his flock. There were several cows and calves in the pasture.
According to reports, the farmer was very experienced and regularly looked after the animals. Until now, there had never been any problems with the bull. The family of the two men killed was taken care of by a crisis intervention team.
There are attacks of bulls or cows on humans over and over again. In 2016, for example, a 48-year-old farmer was fatally wounded by a young animal in a pasture in Allgäu. In 2014, the wife of a farmer died in Bad Tölz, Upper Bavaria, after the attack of a bull in the stable of his farm. The same year, a 57-year-old farmer from the Altötting district was trampled to death by his cows in a pasture.
