Poll ranks Ghana 69th among the best countries in the world

Perceived survey of 80 countries named Ghana the 69th "best country" in the world.

He ranked countries according to perceptions sure Adventure, Citizenship, Cultural Influence, Entrepreneurship, Heritage, Movers, Open to Business, Power and Quality of Life.

The country registered its best score. 4.2 out of 10 in the measure – "Open to Business" due to low perceived manufacturing costs, lack of transparency of government practices and a relatively favorable tax environment.

Its lowest score is 0.0, recorded under "Entrepreneurship" because of, among other things, the perceived difficulty in acquiring capital, a poorly educated population and a lack of skilled labor.

Ghana is ranked in front of other African countries, including Tunisia (72), Nigeria (74) and Angola (78) but behind Egypt (40) and Africa. South Africa (37).

Ghana is ranked 71st out of 80 in the 2018 edition of the same report.

For the third consecutive year, Switzerland was at the top of the ranking.

Japan ranked second (three places from last year), while Canada ranked third. Germany, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Australia, the United States, Norway and France have completed the top ten of the 2019 rankings.

Methodology

The study and model used to score and rank countries were developed by the BAV Group and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, in particular by Professor David J. Reibstein, in consultation with the US News & World Report.

A set of attributes from 65 countries – terms that can be used to describe a country and that are also relevant to the success of a modern nation – have been identified. The country attributes were presented in a survey of more than 20,000 people from around the world. Participants badessed how much they badociated an attribute with a nation.

Each country was scored for each of the 65 country attributes based on a collection of responses to each survey. The more a country was perceived as an example of a certain characteristic compared to the average, the higher the score badigned to this country was, and vice versa. These scores have been standardized to account for outliers and transformed into a scale that can be compared at all levels.

Participants in the survey

A total of 20,301 people from 36 countries in four regions – the Americas, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa – were interviewed. Of the respondents, 11,238 were informed elites and 5,963 were decision makers. Some respondents were considered both informed elites and business decision-makers.
