The Iranian capital, Tehran, long known for its high levels of toxic emissions, has recently been breathing in tropospheric ozone, a rare type of air pollution.
Scientific studies have shown that ground level ozone is a secondary pollutant, formed when pollutants emitted by cars, power plants, industrial boilers, refineries, chemical factories and plants. other sources react chemically in the presence of sunlight.
The detailed maps published by the Tehran Air Quality Control Company indicate that ozone pollution broke a record in Tehran's poor weather conditions.
The TAQCC reports that since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21), ground-level ozone is responsible for 15 days of air pollution.
