Colombian singer Shakira appeared in a Spanish court on Thursday to answer accusations of tax evasion. Prosecutors accused her of failing to pay up to 14.5 million euros in income tax earned between 2012 and 2014.

Shakira arrived at the courtyard of Esplugues de Llobregat, near Barcelona, in the morning by entering the parking lot of the courtyard to escape the media and was briefly seen through a window.

Prosecutors filed a lawsuit last December for the period when they say Shakira was living in the Catalonia region, but the singer's representatives said that she was not living in Spain until 2015 and that she had fulfilled all its tax obligations.

The 42-year-old singer and FC Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué have been together since 2011 and have two children.

Shakira appeared in court in May to face charges of plagiarism for "La Bicicleta," a song she plays with Carlos Vives, although the trial was dismissed after the court had ordered not to copy it.
