The fate of 40,000 Syrians trapped in the Rukban camp will be discussed at a meeting between the UN, Russia and Syria.
Al Jazeera announced that the UN was participating in talks with the Russian army, the Syrian government and representatives of those who were in Rukban camp, near the borders with Jordan and Iraq .
A UN official told the media that the majority wanted to leave the premises, but no guarantee of security was provided.
Rukban Refugee Camp is located in the security zone of Al-Tanf, where is a US military base. According to the World Health Organization, the camp currently hosts around 40,000 refugees, mostly women and children.
