Food sources of biotin

Common sources of biotin in foods include egg yolks, organ meats such as liver or kidneys, whole grains and cereals, tree nuts such as almonds, peanuts, pecans and walnuts, and nut butter, vegetables like cauliflower and mushrooms, soybeans and other legumes and fruits like bananas and raspberries.

According to dermatologists, the hair follicle cycle has three phases: growth, rest and fall; it is normal for most people to lose between 50 and 100 hairs per day. However, there is usually a two to three month gap between a stressful event and the onset of hair loss which can last up to six to nine months. Stresses related to the pandemic, including anxiety about contracting the virus, financial stress, worry for sick family members, social isolation and changes related to work and home schooling, have a significant impact on us. It is important to calm the mind before starting any treatment for such manifestations as hair loss.

Other uses of biotin

Biotin converts carbohydrates into energy and helps amino acids perform normal bodily functions. It is also considered to be helpful in reducing inflammation, improving cognitive function, lowering blood sugar in people with diabetes, increasing HDL or good cholesterol, and lowering LDL or bad cholesterol in our body.
