The New Patriotic Party (NPP) urges Muslims to take the opportunity of the Eid-Ul-Adha festival to pray for Ghana and the world to overcome the global coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
Today marks the day of Arafa, marking the commemoration of the final sermon of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and the completion of the Message of Islam.
The climax of Arafa on the ninth day of Dhu-Hijjah sets the stage for the observance of Eid-Ul-Adha the next day by the rest of the Muslim Ummah.
As a result, Tuesday July 20, 2021 will be marked as Eid Day with Muslims around the world expected to join in the celebration to mark the annual occasion.
In a message to Muslims nationwide, the NPP said it “is happy to wish all Muslims the best for these celebrations which both mark important milestones in the Islamic calendar.”
A party statement signed by party secretary general John Boadu continued: “While there, the party also reminds them that today is not just a day of celebration, but more importantly, one day for them to reflect on their sacrifices, first to their Creator, then to their fellow human beings and to society in general.
In a special appeal, the NPP urged Muslims to pray for Ghana and the world to overcome the coronavirus pandemic.
“Finally, the NPP, while calling on the Muslim Ummah to take advantage of these two solemn occasions to renew its alliance with Almighty Allah, also implores them to say special prayers for the world and Ghana in particular to contain and ultimately overcome the new coronavirus, ”the statement added.

NPP STATEMENT ON THE OCCASION OF ARAFAH AND EID-UL-ADHA DAYS
Today marks the day of Arafa, marking the commemoration of the final sermon of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and the completion of the Message of Islam.
Ordinarily, this day would see a few million Muslims from all over the world who have reached the Holy Land of Mecca moving from Mina to Mount Arafat, also known as the “Mount of Mercy” for the most important part of the pilgrimage. Hajj.
However, due to the extraordinary times we find ourselves occasioned by the deadly Covid-19 epidemic, the holy pilgrimage to Mecca this year, just like last year, has been limited to only Muslims who are in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We are not in normal times indeed.
Arafa’s climax on the ninth day of Dhu-Hijjah sets the stage for the observance of Eid-Ul-Adha the next day by the rest of the Muslim Ummah. Tuesday, July 20, 2021 is therefore the day of Eid.
Eid-Ul-Adha, in essence, marks the culmination of the holy pilgrimage and significantly, it is a commemoration of the famous sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim to Almighty Allah.
As these two historic events are observed, the NPP is happy to wish all Muslims the best for these celebrations which both mark important milestones in the Islamic calendar.
Meanwhile, the holiday also reminds them that this day is not just a day of celebration, but more importantly, a day for them to reflect on their sacrifices, first to their Creator, then to their fellow human beings. . and to society in general.
Finally, the NPP, while calling on the Muslim Ummah to take advantage of these two solemn occasions to renew its alliance with Almighty Allah, also implores them to say special prayers for the world and Ghana in particular to contain and ultimately defeat the new coronavirus.
We are in the same boat, and certainly, in the name of Almighty ALLAH, (Subhaanahu Wa Ta Aala), this too, in the words of His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, SHALL pass to the glory of Allah and the country.
Assalamu alaikum
