Predictions Premier League and FA Cup: Lawro v Radio 1 DJ Danny Howard

[ad_1]

The wolves enjoy an impressive first season in the Premier League, but can they stop with a trip to Wembley?

This is the price offered in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup against Manchester United, broadcast live on BBC One at 19:55 GMT, with Millwall facing Brighton, the other televised draw of the BBC at 14:00 GMT Sunday.

Mark Lawrenson, BBC football expert, said: "The Wolves have achieved excellent results against the top six this season, but United will not only think that they can win at Molineux, they will think that they can win everything. "

Lawro opposes his spirit to a different guest every turn of the FA Cup this season. His opponent this time is the DJ of Radio 1, Danny Howard, whose weekly show is part of the legendary line-up of Friday night.

Leeds fan, Danny, thinks it's "almost impossible" to predict the scores this weekend, but he's done it.

British cyclist Laura Kenny, who will participate in the six-day series in Manchester from March 22-24, also predicted the five Premier League matches of this weekend.

"I had already done it before and I was terrible," said BBC Sport Kenny, who supports the Spurs. "I have them all wrong."

Kenny actually did better than she remembered when she faced Lawro in August 2016. She had five decent results, with no exact score. 50 points, although Lawro has beaten him with 140 points.

PREDICTIONS OF LAWRO

All departures 15:00 GMT unless otherwise indicated.

SATURDAY

Watford v Crystal Palace (12.15 GMT, FA Cup quarter-final)

It's a good match for both teams, as both will want to qualify for the semi-finals.

Watford rested the players in Manchester City last week, showing how seriously they take the FA Cup and how lucky they are to get to Wembley.

I think it will be an open match because there is no point in Palace drawing lots – there is no replay – and the form outside is very good anyway.

It's going to be close, but I'm going to go with Watford. They are the type of team where, when they really need a win, they seem to be able to get it.

The prediction of Lawro: 2-1

Danny's prediction: Watford will be flying this season, but Palace is one of the most unpredictable teams in the Premier League, and as this is a great opportunity, I will be leaving with Roy Hodgson's men. 2-3

Bournemouth v Newcastle (Premier League)

Newcastle took a lot of pressure with his strong return to beat Everton last weekend, as they now have six points clear of the relegation zone.

Bournemouth also won against Huddersfield after a series of four defeats and a draw in their previous five games.

Callum Wilson scored for the Cherries after returning from injury, and they are much more dangerous when he is in the team.

The prediction of Lawro: 2-0

Danny's prediction: 1-3

Prediction of Kenny: 0-1

Burnley v Leicester (Premier League)

I was at Anfield to attend Burnley's defeat by Liverpool last Sunday. The Clarets made costly mistakes under pressure, but other than that, they were very competitive.

The teams just below – Southampton and Cardiff – both won. Burnley was left hovering just above the drop zone.

They have now lost their last three games, which is why they are struggling again, but I am still confident that they will qualify for the last three.

Burnley needs to get something out of this game, obviously, and I think they'll do it. Leicester got his first win under Brendan Rodgers last week, against Fulham, and a point at Turf Moor would be a decent result for them.

The prediction of Lawro: 1-1

Danny's prediction: 0-3

Prediction of Kenny: 1-2

West Ham v Huddersfield (Premier League)

West Ham had improved considerably recently before leaving for Cardiff, but they were virtually untraceable in Wales. They were awful.

How do you explain that? How can a team look very good for four weeks and then get into such a performance?

Cardiff 0-2 West Ham: Very poor performance of Hammers – Manuel Pellegrini

This is not the first time this season that the Hammers play well, then throw such a standard, but it seems to happen more when they are on the road.

That will not happen again against Huddersfield at home, surely? I'm sure the Terriers will fight well, but Manuel Pellegrini's team should be too good for them.

The prediction of Lawro: 2-0

Danny's prediction: 4-0

Prediction of Kenny: 5-0

Swansea – Man City (17:20 GMT, FA Cup quarter-final)

This will be a great opportunity for Swansea and his fans because it does not seem like they're going to make the championship playoffs and the season has been disappointing for them after their relegation.

The chance to play Manchester City, which is arguably the best team in the country, will recall what high-level club life was like, and I would expect a full house and a raging atmosphere.

Highlights: Wigan 1-0 Man City

I would not rule out the possibility of a surprise – because just look at what Wigan did against Pep Guardiola's team in the fifth round last year – but that seems unlikely because of City quality.

The prediction of Lawro: 0-2

Danny's prediction: Swansea did not do a favor in Leeds last week by facing Norwich. We could have really done away with Norwich, but they lost 1-0 and I do not see them getting closer to the city. This is not even a contest for me. 0-4

Wolves v Man Utd (19:55 GMT, FA Cup quarter-final)

United lost their first league game against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last week but, with his chances, he should have beaten Arsenal.

The Solskjaer players have played really well, and if they can repeat that performance, they should be in the semifinals.

FA Cup: The Wolves 2-1 Liverpool Featured

The wolves have already beaten Liverpool under the lights of the FA Cup in the third round, but Jurgen Klopp has made a lot of changes for this match and I do not see Solskjaer doing the same.

The prediction of Lawro: 0-2

Danny's prediction: The season is incredible for the wolves, near the top of the Premier League. Who would have thought? But the men of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, what race they had and what transformation he brought to this club. I think they'll go to the finals. 1-2

SUNDAY

Millwall v Brighton (14:00 GMT, FA Cup quarter-final)

Millwall won a very important win in Birmingham midweek, which took them away from the relegation squares of the Championship.

The situation was similar for Brighton at Crystal Palace last weekend, the Seagulls getting three points to give themselves a break over the last three in the Premier League.

Millwall had an excellent race in the cup and they will be full of conviction after defeating another leading team, Everton, in the fourth round.

I think it's not the right time for them to play Brighton because Chris Hughton's team has regained its form and they will know that they are at a Wembley match.

But I have the feeling that it will go to the end and I would not be surprised that it was decided to penalties.

The prediction of Lawro: 1-1 – Brighton wins AET and penalties

Danny's prediction: Millwall is at the bottom of the league and Brighton holds his place in the Premier League. It's a unique game and anything can happen, but I think Brighton will do it. 0-2

Fulham v Liverpool (14:15 GMT, Premier League)

I was in Munich to see Liverpool beat Bayern on Wednesday and the Reds were excellent in the second half. It was as good as they were all season, in the way they handled the game.

It's the last game before the international break and, if Liverpool wins, they return to the top of the table.

It is a great encouragement if they are tired of their efforts in Germany and the director's message will be of the type "I want a last shot from you".

I simply can not see Fulham getting anything against them because they are not effective enough in defense to keep them from entering.

The prediction of Lawro: 0-2

Danny's prediction: 0-1

Prediction of Kenny: 1-4

Everton v Chelsea (16.30 GMT, Premier League)

Everton 's boss, Marco Silva, needs a response from his team after being completely disorganized against Newcastle, skewing 3-2 after being led 2-0.

What Silva needs is a performance a bit similar to what his team opposed to Liverpool in early March. He could certainly do with the atmosphere that the crowd created during this game.

Chelsea are in action in the Europa League this week, which will not help his energy level but he will be full of confidence after defeating Dynamo Kiev and I do not see them leave the empty hands of Goodison Park.

The prediction of Lawro: 1-1

Danny's prediction: 2-4

Prediction of Kenny: 1-1

Lawro is entrusted to Chris Bevan of BBC Sport.
