United will have the chance to score a goal against Arsenal on Friday night when they meet at Emirates Stadium in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
There may be no points on the line north of London, but the victory of either party would offer another stroke of luck in the arm as they seek to provoke conviction before a mid-week action in the Premier League.
