Premier League shareholders last week discussed a “roadmap for meaningful matches away from home”.
A face-to-face meeting was held again at the Landmark Hotel in Marylebone in London last week. One area of particular interest during the meeting was the continued growth of the competition.
The United States, China, India, Brazil and Indonesia have been identified as markets where the Premier League could attract new fans and an improved preseason tournament next summer in the United States. was discussed as a first step.
Longer term, however, one of the key aspects of the League’s attempts to gain greater global appeal is to play competitive matches on foreign soil.
