Leave on Sopranos prequel keep everything in the family: Michael Gandolfini, the son of the end Sopranos star James Gandolfini, will play a young version of Tony Soprano in the next movie, according to our sister site Deadline.
The prequel, entitled The many saints of Newark, takes place during the Newark riots in the 1960s and focuses on Tony's uncle, Dickie Moltisanti, played by Doll & EmAlessandro Nivola. Jon Bernthal (The dead who walk), Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel), Corey Stoll (Room of cards) and Billy Magnussen (Maniacal) have also signed to join the cast, but their roles have not yet been revealed. Intrigue details are also rare, but the movie should include younger versions of a number of Sopranos characters.
Michael Gandolfini is a full-fledged actor. He has participated in five episodes of the television series HBO. The Deuce last year. He embodies the role inhabited by his father James Gandolfini, who has won three Emmys as leader of the mafia Tony Soprano during his career.
