President admits NDC MPs call for bipartisan probe into Sputnik-V vaccine purchase

Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin admitted a motion tabled by seven minority MPs, demanding a bipartisan committee to investigate the supply of Covid-19 vaccines.

NDC MPs want Parliament to investigate the supply contracts between the Government of the Republic of Ghana and Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum for the supply of Sputnik-V Covid-19 vaccines.

They added that the report should be submitted to the House for consideration.

MPs calling for an investigation are Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu, Minority Chief Whip Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka, Minority Health Spokesman Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.

The others are Minority Spokesman for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa MP for Daffiama / Bussie / Issa, Dr Sebastian Ngmenenso Sandaare, MP for Nabdam, Dr Mark Kurt Nawaane and MP for Ashaiman, Ernest Henry Norgbey.

“That this Honorable House establish a bipartite committee to investigate the supply contracts between the Government of the Republic of Ghana and Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum and another for the supply of Sputnik-V Covid-19 vaccines and submit a report for the consideration of the House.

The motion that was announced on today’s order paper should be tabled in the House for consideration.
