President Akuffo-Addo will deliver remarks at a high-level plenary session to be held this year at the 108th International Labor Conference in Geneva, Switzerland, on the theme "The future of work", an initiative of the Organization.
A statement from the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations, with a copy to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, said that Mr. Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Minister of Employment Affairs and Employment Labor Relations, would lead the Ghanaian delegation to the conference to be held from June 10 to 21, 2019.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the conference will be the culmination point of the ILO centennial celebrations.
The conference will offer Member States the opportunity to bring together their tripartite constituents, including governments, the organized labor movement and employers' badociations, to review its performance over the past 100 years and to prepare for the future. .
The ILC, also known as the International Labor Parliament, is the highest decision-making body that adopts resolutions and conventions governing the world of work of its 187 member states.
As a result, knowledge shared during the ILC on critical issues such as child labor, labor migration, badual harbadment in the workplace and social protection will help build capacity Member States to develop inclusive work policies, formulate and implement projects on the Decent Work Agenda.
As a member of the Organization since 1957, the Government and its social partners have had rich experiences in their relations with the ILO, helping to stimulate creative thinking and catalyze action for its normative functions.
In plenary, delegates will debate the report of the World Commission on the Future of Work.
The 25-member commission that published the Global Report was created by the ILO in the context of rapid changes in globalization and its impact on the world of work.
At the end of the day, the Commission will make recommendations on the future of work.
The Conference is also expected to adopt an important Centennial Declaration to provide guidance to Member States and the ILO as the Organization addresses the challenges of its second century.
In addition, the Conference should adopt new standards on the issue of violence and harbadment in the world of work, in line with its agenda for decent work.
