President Akufo Addo tightens restrictions as Kontri enters third wave of Covid-19

The Ghanaian government is tightening restrictions in the country after the further increase in the number of Covid-19 starts.

Prez Akufo-Addo in a televised address on Sunday reveals that the country is entering the third wave of the Delta variant which has spread rapidly.

“Check that, unfortunately, the nation wants to know the third wave of Covid-19 infections,” he explains.

“Infections increase interest in the Delta variant as revealed by the World Health Organization … but for Ghana hospitalizations have recently increased many intensive care beds some of which unfortunately die.” Prez Akufo-Addo add.

For safety reasons, it places restrictions on certain public gatherings such as funerals and weddings.

“The funeral does not go beyond two hours after the post-event receptions,” adds Prez Akufo-Addo.

According to de Prez, attendants are also avoiding shaking hands during week-long celebrations to be limited to only family members.

De Prez also bans post-wedding receptions where people get together for drinks and rejoice as well as newly married couples.

Prez Akufo-Addo said the government is procuring some 18,478,670 vaccines through the COVAX facility to help fight Covid-19.

“The government is procuring seventeen million (17 million) Johnson & Johnson single dose vaccines per person through the African Medicines Supply Platform,” he added.

In preparation for this upgrade, the country is upgrading national, regional and district cold chain facilities to enable proper storage of vaccines like Pfizer den Modena, which require cold chains of minus seventy degrees Celsius (-70 ° C).

So far, some 1,271,393 Ghanaians are collecting Covid-19 vaccines.

Of the figures, some 405,971 people have received both vaccines while 865,422 receive only the first dose of the vaccine.

As Ghana introduces new restrictions after the third wave of infections in the country, some people are excited about Prez Akufo-Addo’s decision to ban wedding receptions.

Some believe that it is not time for boys to “get married cheaply”.

Ghana has more than 101,000 cases of Covid-19, including 96,255 cured, of which 821 people have died since March last year.
