This becomes a big victory for President Akufo-Addo given his victory in the general election which has just ended.
Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo has released what many consider his first official photo as his second term takes off.
The beautifully taken photo shows the president in a well-worn political costume standing behind a presidential chair as the Ghana flag is boldly positioned behind him.
This image, according to sources close to the president, will be considered for official purposes in the future.
Nana Akufo-Addo and her vice-president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia were sworn in for their second term at the Dome of Parliament on January 7, Constitution Day.
The event followed dramatic turning points in the 7th Legislature when lawmakers scrambled and argued for seats, a ballot box and the theft of a ballot in the election of the Speaker of Parliament.
Meanwhile, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said it will not recognize Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as president of Ghana.
Addressing a press conference in Accra on Friday January 8, 2021, Party Secretary General Johnson Asiedu Nketia said: “Let me state unequivocally that the NDC will not recognize Akufo-Addo as President of Ghana first and foremost, the problems surrounding his flawed elections are satisfactorily resolved.
Some Ghanaians in Washington DC protested against the election results. By holding up signs that read “We voted Mahama”, these staunch supporters of the former president are demanding the revocation of the 2020 election results.
So far, John Dramani Mahama has called for an independent audit of all the pink leaves from the various polling stations across the country.
He recently told Election Commission observers that he would readily admit defeat if the audit were carried out. The NDC opposition also challenged the electoral commission to release copies of pink sheets of the official statement of results for the Techiman South constituency.
The NDC insists it won the parliamentary race in the constituency where 2 people were shot dead in the ballot.

Minority leader Haruna Iddrisu said all attempts to get the commission to provide the party with the declaration sheets were unsuccessful. He alleges that the fact that the commission did not produce the reported results is an indication that the commission manipulated figures in favor of the ruling nuclear power plant.
