Nana Addo President Dankwa Akufo-Addo announced Friday the completion of construction of the Moree Fishing Landing site to strengthen fishing activities in the region.

The project, which is expected to be completed in 18 months, is the first of six projects to be completed by Chinese company Habour Engineering in the central region.

It would include a cold store, an ice factory, a refurbishment, a portable water and electricity system, a laundry and toilet as well as a nursery and a nursery.

Addressing the residents of Moree on the second day of his tour of the central region, President Akufo Addo said the project was part of the government's commitment to transforming the fishing industry.

He said that 11 of these landing sites would be built along the coast of the country and that the central region would have six; Western and Greater Accra, two each; and one in the Volta region.

The president said the grbad cut was an indication that he was keeping his promises to the Ghanaians. He urged the leaders and residents of Moree to cooperate with Chinese entrepreneurs to ensure the rapid realization of the project and to take advantage of it.

Mr. Kweku Ofori Assiamah, Minister of Transport, said that the mini-port, once built, would solve the problems of post-harvest losses, unhygienic conditions and improve the added value in order to meet the standards international export.

He said the project would improve fishing activities and ultimately improve the standard of living of the inhabitants of Moree and urged them to take ownership of the project and ensure its completion.

The previous government, he noted, showed no commitment to build the mini-ports, even though he had more opportunities, adding that the NPP government would keep its promise. to transform the fishing sector.

Ms. Elizabeth Afoley Quaye, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, said she was delighted that the project launched under the former President Kuffour was finally born.

She said the government was determined to put in place the necessary measures to transform the fishing sector, adding that building infrastructure such as landing sites would go a long way in preventing bad fishing practices. She congratulated the fishermen for complying with the laws regarding the closure of the fishery, adding that it was in their best interest.

Mr Elvis Moris Donkor, Member of Parliament of Abura Asebu Kwamankese (AAK), said that 40 hospital beds had been reserved for the Moree Clinic with the product of premixed fuel.

The nuclear power plant, he said, has shown determination to undertake poverty eradication interventions, especially among fishing communities, to improve the living conditions of the people.
