Speaker of Parliament, Professor Mike Oquaye
The Speaker of Parliament, Professor Mike Oquaye, has not sold a bus to his friends, as suggested by the newspaper Herald, the Acting Director of Public Affairs of Parliament, Ms. Kate Addo.
In a press release, Ms. Addo pointed out that "the Speaker of Parliament has not participated in the transfer of vehicles to the House".
Parliament therefore requests a retraction and apology from the newspaper regarding the publication.
Ms. Addo explained that 13 vehicles had been offered to a selection of members and members of Parliament after a thorough evaluation by the Corporation of Interurban Transportation of State and the approval by the Council of Parliamentary Services of their implementation auction according to the established procedure.
She said that the process has existed in successive parliamentary sessions and that the President has no part in that.
