According to the president of the Ontario Council of Hospital Unions, the fact that hospitals are beginning to privatize medical services is a danger.
Hurley said the Ford government's Super Health Agency will have "explicit powers" for clinical health care services or private support in any area of health under its jurisdiction.
He says that should worry people.
Hurley says that if they need evidence about why the public should support a public service, as opposed to private for-profit services, he considers the mortality rate in which dialysis treatments take place.
Hurley says the Journal of the Canadian Medical Association found that the rate of appointments was 2% higher for people on dialysis in private compared to those who had been treated in a public facility.
"The reason for the higher mortality rates is that owners of private dialysis clinics have diluted blood cleaners to maximize profit-taking," said Hurley.

Hurley says there are many examples of why the integration of private enterprise in the health care sector is not working.
He added that recently, contracts had to be broken with providers who sterilize surgical equipment "because the instruments provided by private providers contain fragments of bone and blood that covered them".
According to Hurley, the labor sector has extensive experience in outsourcing cleaning services to hospitals.
According to him, several years ago, British Columbia took this path and found "a 40% increase in the rate of nosocomial infections".
Hurley explained why it happened.
"The cleaners only received a bucket of disinfectant, a pair of gloves and a rag to use throughout their workday, regardless of the surfaces they scoured," he said.
"As a result, they were just transferring viruses. So there is a lot of evidence on the dangers of privatization. The fact is that the privatization of health care is a very lucrative opportunity for many giant multinationals in the laboratory, long-term care and other sectors. And they are procuring themselves to take advantage of a very receptive government that wishes to open these services. "
