Nana Addo President Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged Bono Region Minister Evelyn Ama Kumi Richardson, whose appointment as minister has sparked controversy in Parliament, to do everything possible to shame those who are skeptical. 39, opposed his appointment.

The President chaired the swearing-in of the Bono Regional Minister and Oti Region Minister, Mr. Kwasi Owusu Yeboah, at the Jubilee House in Accra and expressed his confidence in Mrs. Richardson's ability to contribute to the development of the region.

Ms. Richardson's candidacy sparked controversy in Parliament, with the minority opposing her approval. They raised issues with his certificates and urged the House to reject his approval.
However, lawmakers, in a secret ballot last week, voted in his favor by 124 votes out of a total of 210 votes.

President Akufo-Addo urged Mrs. Richardson to put an end to the controversy in Parliament, to work hard to justify the confidence the House had granted her and to shame those who opposed her candidacy.
"I heard a lot about you when you were District Chief," said the President, expressing her unwavering confidence in her ability to keep her promises.

President Akufo-Addo advised the regional minister of Oti, who was appointed pioneer minister of the region, to make himself available and accessible to his people to justify the goal of creating the region.

According to him, the inhabitants of the region voted overwhelmingly for the creation of the new region because they wanted to have close contact with the government and advised the new minister to help bring governance closer to governance.

President Akufo-Addo recounted his previous working relationship with Mr. Yeboah and said he was confident in his ability to badist the government's efforts for the development and prosperity of the region.

Speaking on their behalf, Mr. Yeboah said that he was aware of the enormity of the task that awaited him and had prepared himself to keep pace with the efforts of the government for the development of both regions.
