After reports that A $ AP Rocky has been charged with badault in Sweden, President Donald Trump made his speech on Thursday (July 25th) to criticize the Swedish government and demand the release of the Harlem rapper.
"Very disappointed by Prime Minister Stefan Löfven not being able to act," tweeted the president. "Sweden left our African-American community in the US I watched the tapes of A $ AP Rocky, he was followed and harbaded by troublemakers, treat the Americans fairly!"
The president then asked that Rocky be released from prison. "Give A $ AP Rocky his FREEDOM We are doing so much for Sweden, but that does not seem to work in the other direction Sweden should focus on its real crime problem! he wrote by adding the hashtag #FreeRocky on both tweets.
President Trump's tweets arrive after Rocky was charged with badault following an incident on June 30, during which he and his team fought with a man. Rocky will have to stay in jail until the start of his trial, which could begin next Tuesday (July 30th).
"We think it was self-defense, but the prosecutor chose to follow the victim's version," Rocky's Swedish lawyer Slobodan Jovicic told CNN. However, Swedish prosecutor Daniel Suneson says the fight was still a crime.
In the meantime, the conditions of detention at Rocky Institution would be satisfactory.
