The Maverick artist, Charles Oputa, also known as Charlyboy, has expressed his views on the 2019 presidential debate, which saw the absence of leading candidates, the Progressive Congress's President Muhammadu Buhari. (APC) and Atiku Abubakar of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).
Although Atiku and Buhari each explained in their statements why they had fled the debate, Fela Durotoye of the Alliance for the New Nigeria (ANN), Oby Ezekwesili of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) and Kingsley Moghalu from the Young Progressive Party (YPP)) were present.
But after reacting via a brief statement sent to our correspondent on Saturday night, Charlyboy said he was not surprised that President Buhari did not show up after failing to impress Nigerians at a public meeting that was held a few days ago.
He alleged that Atiku had "stepped aside" from the debate for fear of the other three co-debaters present.
The nonconformist artist, however, criticized Moghalu, Durotoye and Ezekwesili for dispelling their energies by seeking individual election victories rather than working together to defeat and dislodge the APC and the PDP from power.
He said, "The big debate? In case? After the gibberish called English Buhari came to vomit? I knew that his managers would certainly not have allowed him to come back for another humiliation.
"Atiku was introduced but thought it was under him to debate with Kingsley, Oby without mentioning Fela. Even before that began, Atiku had escaped.
"For other aspirants who, for selfish reasons, have refused to band together, raise them up and tell them it's not a fellowship. It is a false system of treachery and principalities.
"We need a super strength to fight these" evil demons ". Grammar alone for the moment can not cut it, not with evil people. I get tired for our momurism. #buharihasfailed. #atikuisnotanoption. "
