Kotoko must beat Zesco in Zambia to advance in the competition
Asante Kotoko will aim to aggravate ZESCO United's troubles at Ndola's Levy Mwanawasa stadium on Sunday as they head to the knockout stages of this season's CAF Confederations Cup.
The Porcupines know that victory will be enough to see them progress, regardless of the result in Omdurman between Nkana and Al-Hilal, who currently occupy the first two places in Group C.
Their opponents, ZESCO, have already bowed out of this season's competition after failing to capitalize on their first-day win. The Ya Ziko team had a third defeat in four games, bowing 3-0 to outside Zambian rival Nkana last weekend.
"Even the last game is also important," said Ya Ziko team head coach George Lwandamina on the eve of their clash against Ghana's giants.
"We need to protect the image of the country, and I know it will not be an easy game at this stage.
"I'm sure it will be very critical for the teams that stayed in. We left, but we are going to go from what we had and I'm sure we'll be strong at that time.
"It's just a phase we're going through, it's not that we do not play well but we ended up in a situation where we are not able to defend well and where we are not able to score, "he concluded.
Kotoko beat his opponents 2 to 1 in the first leg last month.
