North Tongu Constituency National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa says the circumstances leading up to the 2020 general election must not be repeated.
He described the 2020 elections as “the bloodiest elections in Ghanaian history” under the supervision of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
According to him, the situation forced him to ask the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to investigate the circumstances and seek justice for the “innocent people who were killed”.
He argued that President Nana Addo profited from the “bloody” elections while discussing his petition to the CHRAJ in an interview with SUPER FMthe morning show ‘Ghana Montie’.
Adding that “we all run a risk if this were to happen again in the next elections”.

2 NDC deputies lodge a complaint against the ministers, the IGP and the CDS for electoral deaths
Two opposition MPs asked the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to investigate seven deaths and eight injuries that occurred during the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections.
The deputies, Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, representative of the constituency of North Tongu and Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, representative of the constituency of Ellembelle, in their petition presented to CHARJ today, filed a complaint against the minister of the Interior, the Minister of Defense as well as the Inspector General of Police of the Ghana Police Service and the Chief of Defense Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces.
MPs want disciplinary action as well as prosecution of officers who caused death and injury during the election. They also seek reparation for the victims or their representatives.
“The complainants demand that the Commission conduct investigations into the activities of the NESTF during the December 2020 elections in the constituencies of Techiman Sud, Odododiodio, Ablekuma Central and Savelugu in the regions of Bono Est, Greater Accra and the North of the Republic. from Ghana, ”he added. Petition states.
“The Complainants also demand that the investigation identify the officials of the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Armed Forces responsible for the unlawful acts that are the subject of this complaint and the persons under whose command and instructions they acted.
“The Complainants finally ask that the investigation identify the role played by the Ministers of the Interior and of Defense in terms of instructions and orders in relation to the behavior that gave rise to this complaint, and the lack of leadership or appropriate control to prevent, stop or respond in such a way as to curb violations “.
