A large number of people in Ireland owe "a huge debt of gratitude" to Laura Brennan, a cervical cancer activist, who learned about the bereaved.
The 26-year-old died at Limerick University last Wednesday.
Hundreds of people went to St. Peter and Paul's Cathedral in Ennis, County Clare, to say good-bye to Mrs. Brennan, who had been diagnosed with cervical cancer at age 24 years old.
Mbad, which was described as a celebration of his life, took place after his funeral yesterday morning. Health Minister Simon Harris and RTE broadcaster Ryan Tubridy were part of the congregation.
Father Pat Malone, pastor of the parish of the pastoral area of the abbey, said: "Laura often spoke in the midst of her personal illness about the possibility of controlling her personal freedom to act, as it was true.

UCD presented an honorary doctorate to Ms. Brennan in recognition of her advocacy work.
