Primal Scream Announces New Big Tour in UK and Ireland

Primal Scream has announced a major winter tour to the UK and Ireland to support their new single compilation "Maximum Rock 'N' Roll".

The tour follows the group's recent shows at Neighborhood Weekender and All Points East. Tickets for the tour will be on sale at 9am on Fridays. Fans can sign up for pre-ticket access here.

Bobby Gillespie recently revealed that the band had completed the recording of a new album.

Gillespie told Long Live Vinyl: "I can not say how it sounds, but we are very, very excited about the music." He added, "We mixed this new album ourselves and it took forever."

The singer also revealed that he had recorded two new songs as additional tracks for "Maximum Rock 'N' Roll", but that their label, Sony, had rejected them. He said: "Sony wanted firecrackers. The tracks we gave them were good, but Sony replied, "This is not what we expected." They wanted "Rocks 2", I guess, but we gave them "Broken" – a beautiful folk-rock track with 12-string guitars. "

'Broken' recently released as a 7 "standalone single supported by the band's first single Ivy ivy ivy.

Gillespie also recently said he felt rock 'n' roll was a dead language, claiming Long Live Vinyl, Q and The Daily Telegraph. Gillespie told the Daily Telegraph: "Rock is a dying language. It's like Latin, it's old, it's over, it really has nothing to say. Instead, he praised the vitality of filth and hip-hop, saying, "It's like they're speaking in an occult language, and that's the way it should be."
