Prince Philip "told Harry not to marry Meghan" because "we do not get married to actors"

Prince Philip warned Harry not to marry Meghan Markle, saying "we go out with actresses, we do not marry them," they say.

The Duke of Susbad is known to have close ties to his grandfather and he was one of the first to meet the son of the royal couple, Archie, after his birth in May.

The 98-year-old also attended Harry and Meghan's wedding in May last year amid speculation that he would miss the big day as he was recovering from a hip replacement operation.

The Sun has now reported that the outspoken prince had warned his grandson not to marry the former Suits actress.

The newspaper added that an insider had previously said that Harry, 34, had defended Meghan in response to concerns that concerned her.

The Duke of Edinburgh offered relationship counseling in the past, including in 1997, arguing that the key to marriage success was tolerance, according to the Sunday Times Magazine.

He would have said: "Tolerance is the essential ingredient, you can deduce that the queen has the quality of tolerance in abundance".

Royal expert Katie Nicholl previously said that a feud had developed between Harry and his brother, Prince William, about his relationship with Meghan.

Speaking in a TLC documentary on the royal family, she said: "William was very concerned that the relationship had evolved so quickly.

"And being close to Harry, you know, probably the only person close enough to say to Harry" it seems to be going fast, are you sure? "And I think that what was supposed to be a well-meaning fraternal council just upset Harry."

Buckingham Palace declined to comment on Philip's alleged statement about Meghan, according to The Sun.
