Land and Natural Resources Minister Samuel Jinapor called on the reconstituted North Regional Land Commission to prioritize education on the 2020 Land Law (Law 1036) for effective land administration.
He said so today Monday July 26, 2021 at the inauguration of the 23-member Northern Regional Lands Commission in Tamale.
The minister said that the inauguration of the Commission follows the adoption of the Land Law 2020, which is a comprehensive law that reviews, harmonizes and consolidates all existing laws on land for administration, management and regime. sustainable land.
Tamale’s exponential growth, the minister said, places many responsibilities on the Regional Land Commission, hence the need for the Regional Land Commission to work closely with other relevant bodies to ensure that access to land land does not become an obstacle to development.
Mr. Jinapor also instructed the Commission to put in place appropriate measures to help the government achieve its goal of reducing the time limit for land registration to a maximum of thirty (30) days.
Two new regions, namely Savannah and North East, he noted, will depend on the Northern Regional Lands Commission for documents in those regions, stressing that “you have to help them and work with them to avoid duplication of transactions and of recordings ”.
Northern Regional Minister Shani Alhassan Saibu, in a speech read on her behalf, urged all stakeholders to work together to achieve the desired goals for land administration in the region, adding that “let us continue to support interventions government in the land sector ”.
The Executive Secretary of the Land Commission, Alhaji Sulamana Mahama urged the members of the Regional Land Commission to regard their appointment as a privileged appointment and to give their best to serve the country for the benefit of current and future generations.
