Packaging giant ProAmpac continues to find investment opportunities in the UK.

Cincinnati-based ProAmpac said on March 22 that it acquired IG Industries plc and Brayford Plastics Ltd., two UK-based packaging companies.

In January, ProAmpac purchased Rapid Action Packaging Ltd. (RAP), a Wimbledon, England-based manufacturer of cellulose-based food packaging products for retail prepared foods.

The terms of the latest transactions were not disclosed. ProAmpac officials said in a press release that IG and Brayford have a large portfolio of recyclable packaging products.

The two companies are the leading suppliers of flexible packaging to the bakery, meat, fish, poultry and fresh produce markets in the UK and Western Europe, they added.

The acquisitions expand ProAmpac’s manufacturing capabilities for plastic films, resealable bags and pre-made pouches, officials said. They added that the agreements “extend [ProAmpac’s] a leading commitment to provide customers with a wide range of recyclable packaging products. “

IG is located on a 36 acre site in Brigg, England. The company has storage space for 5,600 pallets. Brayford is based in Dunholm, England, and was founded in 1969 when a group of local businessmen decided to make bags for locally grown produce. Following the transaction, IG and Brayford will adopt the ProAmpac brand and continue to operate at their manufacturing facilities in the UK.

The additions of IG and Brayford give ProAmpac a total of 38 manufacturing sites worldwide, with nearly 4,900 employees serving more than 5,000 customers in 90 countries. ProAmpac innovates, designs and manufactures flexible and sustainable packaging and materials science solutions for a variety of consumer, healthcare, e-commerce, retail and industrial product markets.
