"In June 2020, we will have a completely different way of managing the public sector without the intervention of the" goro "boys," said Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to Dr. Bawumia, the question of the exasperating participation of intermediaries; the role of liaison between the Government and Ghanaians with regard to the delivery of public services will now be in the past, once the process of registration of the national identity card completed.
"In another year, when we finish the national identity card, you will make another leap forward in system building and we look forward to the next year," he said.
He explained that the discouraging activities of "goro boys" known to have perceived money or any form of bribe for such services as pbadport acquisition, driver's license, national card Health insurance is a source of frustration said government is fighting.
In his words, "we will not accept more cash after June 2020 for government services. It will only be electronic. When you do this, you eliminate only intermediate men – goros boys and a lot of corruption in the process.
The Veep, known for its campaign for a paperless system, was speaking today at the Ishmael Yamson & Associates Business Roundtable in Accra.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia added that a pilot project had been conducted at the Ministry of Tourism with cashless payments and had revealed that the Ministry's revenue had been multiplied by 4.
