Production price inflation for December 2018 was established at 4.4%, representing a 2.5% decrease in production inflation of 6.5% recorded in November 2018.

The monthly change in the producer price index between November 2018 and December 2018 was -1.2%, said David Kombat, director of advertising and education of the Statistical Service of Ghana , at a press conference Wednesday in Accra.

He said the mining and quarrying sub-sector had the highest producer price inflation rate year-over-year of 8.5%, followed by the manufacturing sub-sector with 4, 5%.

The utilities subsector recorded the lowest inflation recorded by producers (-0.1%).

With regard to the monthly changes, Kombat said that the mining sector had the highest inflation rate (2.9%), followed by the utilities subsector (0.0%). %).

The manufacturing sub-sector recorded the lowest inflation rate (-2.4%).

Regarding the rate trend, Kombat said in December 2018 that the producer price inflation rate for the whole sector was 8.7%.

The rate has steadily declined to a record 3.7% in March 2018 and then increased to 8.2% in July 2018 and 7.0% in August 2018.

The rate fell further to 5.8% in September 2018 and, in October 2018, to 7.2% but fell to 6.5% in November 2018.
