University of Ghana Teachers Association (UTAG) secretary Professor Ransford Edward Yaw Gyampo called the government’s negotiating team “incompetent” after insisting that their attempts to achieve a resolution to end the strike of its equipment were catastrophic. until now.
UTAG launched a nationwide strike on Monday last week against the government’s failure to improve the conditions of service of its members.

“I think there is a way out in my opinion [but] some of us asked for the intervention of an independent third party because, as far as I am concerned, those who negotiated on behalf of the government were catastrophic and showed a lot of incompetence ”, declared the master of lectures at the University of Ghana, Legon.
Professor Ransford Gyampo added: “We have been negotiating since 2012 and today I heard there was a meeting to discuss a roadmap for negotiation. They are not going to negotiate. I find it laughable… University professors don’t eat up meetings and negotiations. We’ve been in these negotiations for almost ten years, how many more years do you want us to negotiate? Tell us so that we tell UTAG members so that we know we are trading in perpetuity.
In the latest development of the case, the National Labor Commission (NLC) obtained a 10-day interlocutory injunction on the UTAG strike.
Unperturbed, the leaders of the UTGA decided to continue the strike unless their demands were met by the government.
