Prohibition to hunt and capture wildlife from August 1

The Wildlife Division of the Forestry Commission has announced a ban on hunting and capture of wild animals during the closed season from 1 August to 1 December 2019.

This measure is part of measures to curb the decline of wildlife resources in the country and to provide relief to animals during their breeding season.

A statement signed by Deputy Director General of the Forestry Commission, John Allotey, said that during the reporting period, hunting, capture or destruction of wildlife is prohibited.

However, the only animal that can be hunted is the lawn mower, which should be done with a valid permit issued by the Wildlife Division of the Forestry Commission.

The statement also advised the public to obtain a license before hunting during the hunting season, which should begin December 2 to July 31, 2020, adding that compliance with this regulation would contribute to the achievement of the goal. 15 of the SDGs.
