Prosecutors in the case of the murderer of the marketing and public relations officer of the port of Tema, Ms. Josephine Tandoh Asante, proceeded to a new arrest of the two main suspects, Christian Agyei and Amos Apeku, with the same charges, but modified facts.
Agyei, the servant of the deceased, and Apeku, his driver, were immediately brought to court and were joined as defendants. The TDC TDC Court of First Instance, chaired by Akosua A. Agyepong, then detained them in police custody and reappeared on 28 February.
At its meeting last Thursday, the lawyers of the two accused, MM. Baba Jamal and Isaac Eshun for Christian Agyei, the first defendant, and Amos Apeku, the second defendant, respectively pleaded for the release of their clients on bail.

Security deposit refused
The prosecutor, Inspector Beatrice Ayeh, however, objected to the bail application, saying that since the case was being investigated and the bodily fluids of the suspects and others were being investigated. Evidence from the crime scene was being badyzed at the forensic laboratory; their surety could affect the investigations.
In her judgment, Ms. Akosua A. Agyepong, a magistrate, stated that although the Supreme Court had ruled that all cases were prosecutable, her court did not have the power to try the defendants.
She therefore ordered the two accused's lawyers to seek bail in the court of competent jurisdiction and adjourned the case to 28 February 2019.
Revised facts
Previously, on the basis of the prosecutor's request, the court overturned the first charges and facts presented by the prosecution against the two defendants, which resulted in their release by the court.
The two suspects, however, were immediately arrested again and brought to court with new charges of murder.
The cases of both have also been consolidated.
Inspector Ayeh told the court that Asante was living in the EMEFS neighborhood in Mataheko, near Afienya, with her 12-year-old son and the first accused, who lived in the boys' quarters.
She stated that the second accused worked at the GPHA and was the official driver of the deceased.
He stated that on January 12, 2019, Ms. Asante participated in a GPHA event at the Community Six Senior Staff Club House in Tema.
Inspector Ayeh said around 11:30 pm that the second accused person drove the deceased into her Mercedes Benz sedan and went to the Michel Camp bus stop while she was staying at her home and returned home around 12:30 pm on January 13, 2018.
Inspector Ayeh said at around 3:30 am that the deceased's son had been woken up by unusual screams in her mother's room. He stood up to inquire about the problem, but met the man from the house in the lobby, which was unusual.
The prosecutor later stated that the man in the house had called the son of the deceased and told him that he had seen the silhouette of an adult wearing a black shirt and jeans coming out of the house through the main door .
She said that the boy had become frightened and had fallen asleep in the boys' quarters with the servant.
She said that the next morning, when the servant and the son of the deceased woke up around 8:30, they realized that Ms. Asante had still not woken up, which was unusual for her.
When the boy tried to open the door to discover the problem, he found the lock closed.
Driver called
The prosecutor said the boy later peeked out the window and saw his mother lying helplessly in a pool of blood on the floor.
He quickly alerted the man from the house and then called the driver on the phone to come home to check his mother's illness.
She said that when the driver arrived home, he held the keys of the house, including those in Ms. Asante's room, which he found at the entrance to the main door of the house.
Inspector Ayeh said the key was used to open the deceased's room, where she was found dead in a pool of blood lying on the floor.
She added that the police had been informed and that when she was conducting a crime scene investigation, the man in the house was seen burying a consignment wrapped in a plastic bag in a hole dug in the vicinity of the house. boys' neighborhood.
The prosecutor said that the servant had been approached and that when it opened, GH ¢ 430 and a wristwatch belonging to Ms. Asnate had been found concealed inside.
She added that the two suspects had been arrested to facilitate investigations, while the body had been transferred to the police hospital morgue to be kept there.
She stated that on January 16, 2019, a post mortem examination of the body revealed the death as asphyxiation, strangulation and a suspected (unnatural) homicide.
Inspector Ayeh added that the two suspects had denied their involvement in Ms. Asante's death.
