The leader of the minority in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu, was shocked by the remarks made by President Akufo-Addo about the prosecution of certain persons appointed under the Mahama administration.

According to Ghanaweb reports, he said, the president's statement suggested that the lawsuits against 21 people appointed by the Mahama government were "laughable".

Haruna Iddrisu was addressing part of the media after escorting Mahama Ayariga, a member of Bawku Central's parliament, following a court summons prosecuted by the Office of the Prosecutor special.

"I heard the president speak away from Canada or somewhere during his many travels abroad, claiming that people from the NDC had lined up for prosecution.

What a significant and interesting statement to come from the President of the Republic. So, that means that for three years he's been working with angels, Iddrisu was laughing.

In the meantime, some appointees to the existing NPP administration have been corrupted, but have been cleared through investigations or have not yet been investigated.

Sectors such as the Ministry of Communication, Health, Tourism, among others, have all been mentioned at some point in the last three years.

After several months of scrutiny and undermined by some of the country's stakeholders, the special prosecutor, Martin Amidu, has prosecuted allegedly corrupt individuals following the leak of a list of officials from his organization.

In a speech by President Akufo-Addo on the fight against corruption during a visit to Canada, he revealed that 21 former leaders of the NDC-led opposition government had been charged.

He badured Ghanaians living in Canada that his administration was about to fight corruption and that it followed due process.
