The Publix-based supermarket chain in Florida, Publix, which has more than 1,200 stores in the southeastern United States, announced (via Reddit) that it would extend Apple Pay support to all its stores "in the next weeks".

The news arrives via the Publix Twitter account yesterday in response to a customer who asked about lack of support for Apple's mobile payment system.

Hello. Our stores are deploying this technology in all our stores. If your store does not currently accept Apple Pay this should happen in the coming weeks. Monique

However, all Publix Twitter support agents do not seem to have been informed of the news, as in recent hours other answers customers have simply offered to "share your suggestion" with customer service or the payment team.

There have been scattered reports on Publix tests Apple Pay in a few stores for a while, but it seems like a full rollout is finally underway.
