He added that he intended to hold a public hearing on the rate adjustment on January 14th to take effect on February 1, 2019.
PURC added that the announcement had been delayed due to the takeover of Power Distribution Services (PDS) by the ECG.
PURC's public relations officer, Bawah Munkaila, said that a specific tariff adjustment could only be determined once enough data had been collected from the new service provider.
According to a report from Citinewsroom.com, the PURC said early on that electricity rates would remain unchanged until July 1, 2019.
In a statement, he said the changes to electricity rates, expected to come into effect on July 1, 2019, would be announced later.
PURC said the decision to maintain tariffs was due to "critical emerging issues in the sector, which should affect final pricing."
