Mami Dufie Ofori – PURC Executive Secretary
Philip Agbezudor, Regional Manager of the Volta Public Utilities Board (PURC), badured injured public service consumers in the region not to hesitate to report their concerns to the Commission.
He added that instead of being legislated, they should trust the PURC and report their grievances to PURC, which has a regional office in Ho, the regional capital.
He stated that his dress would take consumers' grievances very seriously. In addition, he would conduct the necessary investigations and would not hesitate to apply the necessary sanctions to anyone or to a service provider found guilty.
Mr. Agbezudor made the observation during an interaction with the Muslim community in Ho. He stated that the PURC, mandated by the Constitution to oversee the provision and provision of a public service of Ghanaians, would do everything in its power to ensure mutually beneficial relationships for consumers and service providers.
He observed that it was impossible for society to exist without problems and without misunderstanding. "But as a nation governed by the law, there are established bodies on which we should seek redress in case of mourning or when we feel wronged …", he added.
He further explained that, since the PURC, as a regulator, was more of a liaison between the public and public service providers, as service providers would be wrongly treated, consumers would also be treated when they are all illegal activity.
In response to a question of high bill, inappropriate disconnection and gross and unprofessional behavior of the staff and workers of the Power Generation Services (PDS) and the Ghana Water Company (GWCL), the Regional Director stated that the commission took this issue seriously and that it would always take steps to investigate and sanction if necessary.
Mr. Agbezudor advised consumers to follow basic energy and water conservation tips to deal with the problem of high bills and to give up any form of illegality while notifying people that they suspected of being illegal.
